Blog Tour Recap

From October 28 through November 4, I was featured at various blogs for The Crashing of Heaven and Hell. Here’s the recap of all of the stops.

Tome Tender Blog Spot: “The day Dennis Spielman was born, there must have been a generous helping of imagination dished out, because the world he has created can only be related to our reality in a very general way!” This first stop featured a glowing review that made my day when I read it.

Dream Reader: Dream Reader featured the promo post with a brief review. “I found the story to be fantastical yet containing all the typical struggles we all face. The book was slow moving at points and difficult to follow occasionally, yet remained intriguing until the end.”

The Book Tart: The Book Tart and I did an extremely fun interview. Go read it. It’s awesome.

Talk Supe: Talk Supe featured promo content and a guest blog post I wrote about inspiration. There was going to be a review, however, my book ended up on the did not finish pile because of the heavy use of footnotes. (Great feedback I am taking into consideration for future stories.)

Sylv Jenkins: The last stop with Sylv Jenkins featured another guest blog post I wrote, “How to Keep Muses From Killing You.”

Overall, the tour was fun. It would’ve been nice to have some more stops. I received some great feedback and gained a few fans.

Saturday, November 16, 2013 from 3:00pm – 5:00pm I will be at Full Circle Bookstore (1900 NW Expressway, Oklahoma City, OK) for my very first book signing session! Event details here. I’ll be sure to post pictures from the event.

Tour

I am announcing my blog tour for The Crashing of Heaven and Hell. From October 28 through November 4, I will be featured at various blogs. I’m excited! I will be talking about my stops here as they happen.

I will have an in person book signing at Full Circle Bookstore (1900 NW Expressway, Oklahoma City, OK 73118) on Saturday, November 16 from 3 to 5. It will be part of their new ink event so I will be there with several other writers. This will be my first book signing event. I’m also excited about it. You need to come out there to see me and this will mostly like be my only signing specially for this book. It’s also my first book signing! You should come because it’s my first book signing.

I’m already working on my next novel, Too Close to the Ground, an urban fantasy story. In November, I’m working on the 2014 edition of my date idea book. It’s good to have projects lined up.

I hope you come see in person!

Released: The Crashing of Heaven and Hell

I am incredibly excited to announce the release of my first novel, The Crashing of Heaven and Hell. It’s a quick and adventurous read into this colorful and imaginative world where there are aliens, monsters, and mystical creatures and everyone is cool with it. To compare it, it’s like a cross between American Gods and The Hitchers Guide to the Galaxy. You can buy the book in Paperback via Amazon, Hardback via Lulu, and as an exclusive eBook for Kindle. If you don’t own a physical Kindle, there are Kindle reading apps for the iPhone and Android. If you do own a kindle and an Amazon Prime membership, the ebook is available to borrow for free. Go buy your copy and like the book on Facebook. I’ll post announcements if the book goes on sale or when I’ll be doing book signings.

Now that all of that information has been said, I’m going to share a bit of the book’s development history. The story started out as a short story, which I first started writing back on October 19, 2006 (according to when I created the Word document). The story was inspired by the song, “Something of an End” by My Brightest Diamond. I discovered this band and song when I was listening to NRP back in college. I was really hooked on it. The lyrics about heaven and hell crashing down created this powerful picture to me and so I wrote a rather literal story, while the song was more symbolical, about Heaven and Hell crashing down on the planet. I created this Spotify playlist of the songs that helped inspire the novel.

Over time, the short story grew into a novel, going through several major rewrites along the way. Each revision had its own story, motivation, and sparks of ideas. The first few versions, the narrator was all over the place and disorganized. Based on feedback, the story straightened out and on the final versions, became deep with fleshed out characters and motivations.

I am so proud of the book. To finally release it, it feels natural. I was disappointed in myself it took me this long after high school to release a novel. I didn’t go to my ten-year high school reunion because I wasn’t as accomplished as I thought I would be after high school. Reality is hard, but I grew so much in that time and if I would’ve released anything earlier, it would not have been great. It’s best to give projects time to mature instead of releasing them when they’re raw.

The book is dedicated to My Brightest Diamond. Thank you.

I hope you enjoy the book and tell all of your friends about it. I will be doing my best now to spread the word while working on my next big project. I love creating things. Please help spread the word about the time Heaven and Hell came crashing down.

Editor Hired

I have an editor hired for The Crashing of Heaven and Hell. Oh, hey, that’s a link? Yes, I’ve set up a web page for the book, which is still on track for a May/June release. I’m so excited. I wish I had more to share or write about, but there isn’t yet.

*TARDIS Sound*

What’s that, Doctor? Everyone loves the book? Awesome. 😎

The Crashing of Heaven and Hell Cover Session

Today I had a photo session with Carolina Gonzalez to model as Cassie/Virus for the cover of my book, The Crashing of Heaven and Hell. It was a great shoot. I’m still trying to make up my mind on the cover, but here are three great pictures.

Right now, I’m waiting for some feedback on the book from some of my friends to make sure everything makes sense and that there are no plot holes. Once I hear back, I’ll do one more revision and have it edited. YAY!

Also, possible book description:
It was so beautiful, yet so terrible, to see the crashed islands of Heaven and Hell naked on the planet’s surface. To blurt out how and why would be a great insult to everyone involved. To be truly enlightened, or entertained if you’re an Atheist, you must know the series of events that happened on the day Heaven and Hell came crashing down. Follow the normal lives of several people on the Green Planet as they deal with vengeful actors, kidnapping robots, making a documentary, a disappearing moon, scavengers in space, a zombie rights protest, and the Gods’ schemes to cause the planet’s heaven and hell to crash on the surface. Take an amazing journey on Hell’s wicked roller coaster, fly with angels in heaven, shop in a futuristic mall in the shape of a crystalline horse, run from a giant three headed dog on a hover board, meet some fascinating people, and get involved in the Gods’ drama in Dennis Spielman’s book, The Crashing of Heaven and Hell.
