Tacos at OSO - photo by Dennis Spielman

OSO on Paseo

OSO in the Paseo Arts District is a taco shop with different tacos and cocktails than you’re going to find anywhere else in Oklahoma City. It’s nice enough to enjoy for a casual date night or drop by for lunch in your yoga outfit.

In this Uncovering Oklahoma interview, Chris McKenna, Executive Chef at OSO on Paseo; and Kindt Steven Myers, Director of Hospitality for Humankind Hospitality, discuss what you can enjoy at OSO.

My wife and I recently had a conversation about how no one in the city made cocktails out of coconuts or pineapples and we were both excited to learn that OSO does. It’s nice to see someone doing it!

Worked late yesterday to get this video done. Been busy with freelance work lately, which has been great. I’m still a long way from doing the live studio setup. Tomorrow, I’m filming a tour of the 2019 ArtNow show at Oklahoma Contemporary, which I’ll edit later that evening so I can share it Friday. Friday I’ll be at Creative Mornings, a Factory Obscura press event, interview for the new art exhibit at Oklahoma Science Museum, and taking photos for my holiday gift guides, which I’ll be releasing starting next week. Not sure what I’m doing Saturday just yet, but Sunday at some point we’ll be recording the season finale of Tales Unveiled.

In December, filming for Uncovering Oklahoma becomes difficult because of the holidays as everybody is typically too busy to be interviewed. I’ll be focusing on editing two feature documentaries of mine and writing for my books, which I have three that I’ve been bouncing between (they are connected with each other).

That’s what’s going on!

Barkeep Ad Video

I have been fortunate enough to have been hired by Barkeep Supply to make a promo ad for Uncovering Oklahoma and some cocktail instructional videos that they’ll be using on their social media accounts. Barkeep is located in the Oklahoma City Midtown District and they’re a cocktail supply shop specializing in bar tools, drinkware, ingredients, and accessories. Come stock your bar or find the perfect gift and while you shop, enjoy a cocktail. Also, check out their custom gift boxes.

Digging Up The Truth

“Sam and Geoff conduct separate interviews with Sam getting a second opinion from Localites OKC on places they’ve visited and Geoff learning about the legendary Chinese Tunnels. Their conversations add new levels of mystery to the tales of Oklahoma.”

This is the second to the last episode of our first season! After the end of the season, we’ll do a Q&A video, so if you have any questions for us about the series, send us a message or leave a comment on social media and we’ll answer it in the video!

As for episode notes, throughout October our schedules were full, especially with Jeff hosting various ghost tours. We recorded the two main interviews last Friday and the last bit yesterday. I’m excited to work on the finale, which will heavily story focused. We do have plans for a second season, which we’ll start recording in the summer of next year. We’ll talk more about season two in the post-show video.

Tales Unveiled is a production of The Show Starts Now Studios and is produced by me, Dennis Spielman. The voice of Sam Saxton is Dennis Spielman. The voice of Professor Geoff DeRoot is Jeff Provine.

This episode featured the voice talents of Kayla Coffey & Anna Farha from Localites OKC as themselves; Paul Evans as Wendell Holmes; and Mel Roberts as Detective West.

Special thanks to Clarity Coffee and Waving Wheat Bakery for letting us record there.

Cafe Cuvée - photo by Dennis Spielman

Café Cuvée

Café Cuvée is an approachable French-style bistro in the heart of Oklahoma City’s Midtown District. They serve French classics in a comfortable atmosphere that’s fitting for meeting with friends, business, bunch, and date nights. A special trait of Café Cuvée is their table-side service where they prepare dishes like their Dover Sole in front of you.

In this Uncovering Oklahoma interview, we hear from Kurt Fleischfresser, the Culinary Director of Coury Hospitality; Shawn Rogers, General Manager of Ambassador Hotel; and Taylor Desjarlais, Executive Chef, Café Cuvée.

I filmed this video on Monday afternoon, a slow time, and so we used several staff members to fill in as patrons. In the opening shot with the four dishes, they made me a shared plate so I was able to sample everything. I never had Dover Sole before and it was good!

I have my November video plans laid out, which include a few new places.
