Art Lessons with Katelynn Knick

Working with Arts Council Oklahoma City, I’ve launched Sessions from Art & Victory. Sessions are one-off artistic lessons for people to enjoy at home or in the classroom. To kick off the session series, teaching artist Katelynn Knick shares how to make a coffee filter watercolor painting, a pop-up paper sculpture, and a god’s eye.

The Shows Start Now!

I am happy to announce the soft launch of the new The Show Starts Now Studios website and streaming service! I’ve filmed many stories throughout the years, and having a single place for everything was my next move. I’m in the soft launch phase, as I’m still reviewing my archives and enhancing content such as my shows, Tales Unveiled and Yes! Science!

Brand new are the first episodes of Take A Bite with Phi and Visiting Haunts. Phi Nguyen hosts the new food travel show as she goes behind the scenes at restaurants to encourage people to take a bite of something new. In Visiting Haunts, author Jeff Provine tours haunted places people are allowed to visit.

My documentary on the candy dystopian art experience, Sugar High, is also new and can be found under the second season of my new project, Archiving Contemporary Art. The first season will contain select art stories from the archives of Uncovering Oklahoma while starting the second season contains new content. Keep in mind I am going through my archives still for this first season, but I did put up my story on the Plaza Walls.

Once I get Tales Unveiled and Yes! Science! uploaded, I’m going to start spreading the word hard. I have more episodes of several shows in my queue to be edited. I plan to have an iPhone/Android app once I have enough subscribers to afford the expansion.

There’s so much for me to talk about with The Show Starts Now Studios. I will start doing live audience shows again, as I did in 2019, before COVID. I got some fun partnerships and creative experiences in the works. More new shows next year, but now I have to get back to work. 😎

I’d love for you to check out the service and let me know what you want to see more of that fits our mission. I’m offering a 14-day free trial, so start your show now!

Visiting Haunts

As the veil thins and we approach the spooky season, I would like to announce Visiting Haunts. Visiting Haunts is a travel show hosted by writer and folklorist Jeff Provine as he visits haunted locations that you can visit too.

We’ve filmed our first episode, which features The Overholser Mansion and The Paramount Building in Oklahoma City. Today, the team is heading to Guthrie for the next episode. Jeff and I hosted Tales Unvieled for four years and wanted to take the storytelling in a new direction as a travel show of spooky places people can visit. While our first season will focus on Oklahoma, we have ambitions to travel out of state.

This show will be one of eight for The Show Starts Now Studios when my new streaming service debuts next month! I am working on launch party details and I’ll share those details we maters are confirmed.

New Show: Take A Bite with Phi

Show Reveal: We filmed the first episode of our new show, Take A Bite with Phi. Hosted by Phi Nguyen of the Take A Bite OK Instagram account, the food series is all about getting people to expand their food horizons while getting to know the stories behind the dishes and even how to make some of the meals at home yourself.

Phi is a born and bred Oklahoman who spent 10 years in the restaurant and hospitality industry before her current downtown management career in the heart of OKC. Her love of food and passion for the ever-growing restaurant scene in OKC was the catalyst for Take A Bite OK. The mission of her hyper-local account is to share the vibrant culinary landscape of Oklahoma with others.

The series will premiere on The Show Starts Now Studios app later this fall. You can help us and get early access by joining us on Patreon at

Me at Norman 1 Million Cups

Earlier this week I was honored to be a guest speaker at the Norman chapter of 1 Million Cups to speak about my business, The Show Starts Now Studios! After some introductions, I gave a short presentation about my studio project and the various shows I’m producing, followed by a Q&A session. Due to COVID-19 concerns, the monthly event was held online via Zoom. They were kind enough to record the meeting and post it online, which I’ve embedded above.

Thanks to the Norman 1 Million Cups for having me! I had a great time sharing my story with everyone.
