Uncovering Oklahoma Adventure Time

Yesterday was the start of my work vacation. I had vacation time I had to use up before the end of the year, but I had no plans to travel anywhere for it. So I’ve decided to spend the time working on projects, acting like a successful writer. My time so far has been spent on the 2014 Edition of Uncovering Oklahoma’s Date Idea Book. It’s coming along nicely, once I decided on the layout. Only several pages have been built, but it’s moving along quickly.

Microsoft Store
This morning I got to preview the Microsoft Store that will be opening tomorrow in Penn Square Mall. I was invited along with a few other bloggers to the sneak peek. I was honored to be there. The store looks great. The first product that caught my eye was the 3D printer they had in the store. I had never seen one in person. I got introduced to the Surface, which does some pretty cool stuff. I even got to play the XBOX One for a few minutes. The store had demos for Windows phones, Surface tablets, XBOX One, and Windows PCs along with a community space people can use for free for group meetings and parties.

After the Microsoft Store, I roamed around the mall and traveled to several places, taking pictures for the date idea book. Here’s a few of the interesting ones. I’m going to let the pictures do the talking now.

I have many more pictures, however, those are best suited for the date idea book. I’m about to leave to go take more pictures.

Be sure to come to my book signing tomorrow!

Uncovering Oklahoma: Ludivine

Today I published a video interview on the Oklahoma City restaurant, Ludivine, for Uncovering Oklahoma. This is the first video this year for my travel site. For this one, I did something new where I edited the video to feature five key points about the place. I’m proud of how the video turned out.

Ludivine is a farm-to-table, open kitchen restaurant in Oklahoma City’s Midtown district. Offering a daily changing menu that is guided by what is available from local farms and ranches in a modern environment, Ludivine features food not seen at common restaurants. They are ideal for nice dates and showing out-of-towners Oklahoma isn’t all fried food and gravy.

In my video interview, Co-Owner / Chef, Russ Johnson, shares five facts about Ludivine. Russ has been cooking most of his life, starting professionally at age 16. While he grew up in Oklahoma City and has moved around, Russ came back starting out doing private chef work. He later met up with Jonathon Stranger, working him on One Table, a reservation only place with only one table. They had wanted to flesh out One Table as more of an full restaurant, which became Ludivine.

Watch the video and be sure to visit Ludivine for delicious food and tasty drinks.

Ludivine will be listed in Uncovering Oklahoma’s 2014 Date Idea, which work is already under way.

Meanwhile at Full Circle Bookstore

I thought I would share a picture I took my date idea book at Full Circle Bookstore. My murder mystery party game book is there too.

No Fun Intended Interview

If you missed my time on No Fun Intended earlier this week, the podcast is online here. Here’s how they described the show:

We’re back!

Super stoked to be back in the FUNDERDOME and return to TheSpyFM.com!

Joined for our triumphant return, just in time for Valentine’s Day, by a fabulous panel of guests that included farmer/artist (fartist?) Samantha Lamb, super-comedian James Nghiem, and author Dennis Spielman. We discussed the finer things to do with your significant other/fuckbuddy on VDay, as well as donkeys, JJ Abrams, Han Solo, high-school reunions, duck-murder, and THEN still answered your emails!

THANKS SO MUCH FOR LISTENING!

The show was great! I was, they believed, their first book author on the show. Anyway, listen to my second podcast interview I’ve ever done (the first one being on The Time Traveling Troupe).

Uncovering Oklahoma: Tulsa Glassblowing School

It’s been awhile since I’ve made a video for Uncovering Oklahoma. The Tulsa Glassblowing School is a non-profit arts organization in Tulsa. Not only do they sell glass blown art, people can come and watch them work any time the doors are open. The place was pretty neat. I visited them back in October, but with the date idea book, I’ve just now gotten around to making this video. I did a different interview style where I’m not in the shot so I was able to edit the video to improve the pace. It turned out great.
