El Toro Chino

Translating from The Chinese Bull in Spanish, El Toro Chino is an adventure in food by fusing together Latin and Asian Cuisine in Norman. Gerry and Jennifer Reardon share their story behind the restaurant and what makes them unique.

Brielle’s Bistro

Brielle’s Bistro in Midwest City features made from scratch comfort food, while incorporating a cajun/creole feel. In addition to the cajun menu, Brielle’s Bistro also features classic American items, burgers, a bar, weekend brunch, and breakfast all day.

Brielle’s Bistro is located at 9205 NE 23rd Street, Midwest City. For more information, including menu and hours, visit their website at briellesbistro.com

This is my first Uncovering Oklahoma video that I did about a place in Midwest City. The only other Midwest City story I’ve done was about Sooner Con, which took place in Midwest City, however, as of this year, they have moved to a bigger venue in Norman. I’m making an effort to highlight some of the other surrounding Oklahoma City metro towns, like Shawnee and Del City, which I haven’t featured before.

Dolci Paradiso

After developing a passion for sweets from traveling the world, Hema Patel became inspired to open Dolci Paradiso in Oklahoma City. Dolci Paradiso offers guests a broad selection of pastries, including cakes and croissants, cruffins and more, but the primary focus is their gelato.

Each of Dolci Paradiso’s gelato and sorbet recipes are made from scratch in gelato machines handmade in Italy, allowing the flavors to texturize and meld. Additionally, almost all of their ingredients are organic.

Pizza at Banquet Cinema Pub

Banquet Cinema Pub

Banquet Cinema Pub in Oklahoma City is both a restaurant pub and a movie theater, making for a unique social experience. Hear from Hunter Wheat and Jeff Patton about how this place is unique to the state, including why they’re great for a date night.

This is a follow-up video that I did on them a few weeks ago as a personal vlog. We talk more about the food in this video as I interview their executive chef as well.

Banquet Cinema Pub is located at 800 NW 4th Street in Oklahoma City. For more information, including showtimes, visit them at banquetcinema.com.

Chili at The Red Cup

Oklahoma City Chili

In preparation for National Chili Day next week, I visited three restaurants in the Oklahoma City metro that serve bowls of chili as part of their regular menu. For this story, I traveled to Flint in Downtown Oklahoma City for their Bison Chili, The Red Cup in OKC for their vegetarian chili, and The Diner in Downtown Norman for their Championship Chili. The chili featured from each place is completely different from each other. Not only do all of these venues offer bowls of chili, but they also feature it on other menu items such as burgers.

National Chili Day is celebrated on the fourth Thursday in February, which will be on February 28th for 2019.

Be sure to read the full story at Uncovering Oklahoma for more information about these places, including some recommendations to other places.

I’m planning on doing more themed videos in the future for Uncovering Oklahoma. It gives me a chance to feature older, more established places and to revisit places I haven’t been to in a while. After all, just because a place has been around, doesn’t mean that it’s not new to someone else. As for future themes, National Corn Dog Day is coming up next month…
