While no longer around, if you wish to learn about Factory Obscura’s premiere exhibition, SHIFT, I’ve embedded my Uncovering Oklahoma story about it below.
Shades of Brown is a place where you can come and be your total self while having a really good cup of coffee. Owner, Melinda Curren, and barista, Ben Udwin, discuss the vibe this Brookside coffee shop in Tulsa.
I filmed this video the same day I was in Tulsa for the Gathering Place preview. I’m glad I was able to film two stories that day and in Tulsa for that matter, which I normally don’t get around to doing stories there.
Shades of Brown isn’t too far away from the Gathering Place, so if you’re in Tulsa I hope you enjoy the video and check out them both out.
All four artists are well-established and highly visible artists in the Oklahoma City metro area and beyond. The show offers a beautiful exhibition consisting of large and small abstract paintings that share a common connecting thread when hung together. The tactile and visceral paintings, create a strong impression of kindred spirits among the four artists and their love for the physical act of painting. These artists take their work to a place where the viewer is allowed to simply enjoy the physicality of the medium, the lushness of paint and brushstrokes cutting contours to create form and space in fields of spatial ambiguity. The generous wall space, loft-like ceilings an abundance of beautiful, natural light at Nault Gallery, the artists believe provide the ideal atmosphere in which to view their works.
This may not look like it, which is the intention after all, but I’m proud of how well I edited all four of their statements together. I was experimented with a different color correction tool, adjusting curves, and I like how more blended the image looks.
Yesterday, I visited the Oklahoma State Fair to sample some of the new and award-winning fair foods as well as hear from food vendors talk about their specials this year. The 2018 Oklahoma State Fair started on September 13th and goes through the 23rd. For a complete list of the new foods, read my story on Uncovering Oklahoma.
Growing from a passion to see places one normally doesn’t see, Ride OKC offers people unique tours of Oklahoma City via bicycle. Ashely and Ryan Fogle of Ride OKC, along with Bailey Gordon of Cookie Tour, share what riders can expect. If you’re a cookie connoisseur, this video includes footage from the Cookie Bike Tour.
I personally had a great time with Ride OKC on the Cookie Bike Tour. Their tours make for a great date. A while back I posted an adventure vlog about my time with them and AMP Festival, which I’ve included below.
Next week’s featured video will be on a coffee shop that I visited in Tulsa while I was there for the Gathering Place.
