Cloud City at Oklahoma Contemporary

Oklahoma Contemporary’s Artist Director, Jeremiah Matthew Davis, shares five things he wants everyone to know about Tomás Saraceno’s Cloud City.

The large-scale art installation opened Sept. 8 at Campbell Art Park, adjacent to the site of Oklahoma Contemporary’s planned art campus at NW 11th and Broadway. Support and interest have been extraordinary so that the sculpture will stay in OKC through Oct. 30.

Visitors to Cloud City can walk inside what Saraceno calls “a utopian city in the sky.” Made of steel and acrylic, the structure is both transparent and reflective, so that grass may appear overhead and the sky is reflected onto the ground. The 16 interconnected modules – each the size of a small room – draw shapes from natural forms, including bubbles, clouds, universes, bacteria, foam and animals’ neural communication networks.

This video’s end credit music is by local musician, Jarvix. I recently did a four-part series with him releasing four videos to promote The Looper Sessions. I recommend checking them out too.

Guthrie Haunts Scaregrounds

This weekend is the opening season for many Oklahoma Haunted Houses and because of that, I traveled to Guthrie to visit the Guthrie Haunts Scaregrounds for this week’s video. Owner John Pagonis talks about the haunted house, what visitors can expect, their terror upgrade perk, and more.

If you enjoyed the haunt last year, you’ll be happy to know Guthrie Haunts has doubled in size. Even during the day with lights on, I was creeped out. John did mention to me the property has been visited by paranormal investigators…

Quarter Minutes Status Update

The first episode of my new series, Quarter Minutes, has reached the final cut status and is ready to premiere next month! Half of the Mirror episode and a quarter of the Polaroid episode have been filmed as well. In addition, Kristy and I have written scripts for more stories. We are scheduled to do more filming this week. If we can get another episode or two done this week, I may premiere the show a week early, airing it on October 4th instead of the 11th.

In the meantime, here are two behind the scenes pictures from the Summer episode. These are from the Death Jacket story starring Jessi Kyle and Katie Kochelek. The episode was written and then filmed in one afternoon, taking advantage of a swimming pool and a garden terrace.

Welcome to Quarter Minutes

Quarter Minutes is my new series that pierces through the multiverse to capture 15-second glimpses of strange and seemly normal oddities of multiple realities. Think of it as like the Twilight Zone, but with each episode having four 15-second stories.

Series premiere Tuesday, October 11th!

Teaser Trailer stars Katie M. Kochelek, Jessi Kyle, Lessa Keller-Kenton, and Jeff Geurts.
